DAMN WRIGHT by SKYE JORDAN

Book Blurb:

From New York Times bestselling author Skye Jordan, the second in a sexy new series set in Nashville, The Wrights.

There is no story too risky for foreign correspondent Dylan Wright. Not until the same reckless drive that shot him to the top of his career also cost him his best friend’s life. Shattered by the loss, Dylan returns home to fulfill his friend’s last request—for Dylan to reconnect with his family and do right by the woman he left behind. But the love he thought lost all those years ago returns with a vengeance, and the only assignment he’s interested in now is a second chance at first love.

Emma Reeves is a survivor. Even the trauma of losing the love of her life couldn’t crush her desire to become a doctor. Engaged to a successful surgeon and weeks away from finishing her residency, Emma’s path is set. Until the man who broke her heart resurfaces with an offer too good to refuse. Now, Emma is forced to choose between two dreams—the one that saved her all those years ago, and the one that ripped her world apart.

Review:

Have you ever wanted a do-over? Well this is exactly what Dylan has been hoping for the last eight years. Unfortunately it took a tragedy for him to take the chance.

Even though he knows he has a lot to make up for with his family, his real target is Emma, his ex-wife. What he doesn’t anticipate is all the hurdles, including a fiancee to be in his way.

This book touches on a lot of subjects. The effects of war on innocent civilians, the brave men and women who volunteer to help those in need, as well as finding your own path in life.

As much as I didn’t want Emma to just take Dylan back, she was standing in her own way for the majority of the book. As much as she thought she had grown, she was still trapped in the past and couldn’t or wouldn’t recognize that Dylan had changed.

Dylan put it all out there. He had learned from his past mistakes and was an open book. I think his expectations were a little high, but his intentions were good.

Scene Stealer:  Cooper

Who can resist babies? I can’t and no one in this book could either. Every scene Cooper was in just melted my heart.
