LONDON ROYAL by NANA MALONE

Book Blurb:

Rich.
Entitled.
Possessive pain in my ass.
I know exactly what I don’t want.

I escaped to London under the cover of night, never thinking I’d run smack into a man who would turn me inside out.

I had a plan. Simple, really.

Step one: Follow my dream, away from from the demons of my past.
Step two: Land on my own two feet, preferably far, far, away from the man who hurt me and broke my heart.
Step three: Live a little and avoid all men with dark secrets.

So far, I’m not doing so hot.

He’s a royal amongst peasants, and the last kind of trouble I need–a filthy rich alpha who can see straight into my soul. Our secrets hold us both captive.

Something tells me I’ll be powerless to stop his magnetic pull, especially when he tells me I’m going to be his, damn the consequences.

Review:

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. Yes it’s loosely tied to the Winston Isles but I could tell from the beginning this would be a slightly different type of story.

This is a more emotional and somber story than the previous duets. All the characters are trying to heal from past traumatic incidents and controlling families. Abbie is trying to re-discover herself after a failed and dangerous relationship. Lex is trying to re-invent himself and become his own man. These two find each other at critical turning points in their lives.

But it’s not all angst. There are some great suspenseful moments and very sexy interactions. The supporting cast helps flesh out the lead characters and storyline. One of Nana’s gifts as a writer is that she is not stingy with character development. The book is about the burgeoning love between Abbie and Lex, however you become just as invested in his brother Xander and her friend Sophia.

The cliff hanger ending was definitely not what I expected and I cannot wait for the conclusion.

Favorite Scene: The Last Chapter

The lead up to the cliffhanger is just classic.
