SLOW BURN by J.H. CROIX

Book Blurb:

I put out fires for a living.
I can take some heat.
But Maisie drives me crazy.
She’s smart-mouthed, sarcastic and argumentative.
This town’s too small for both of us.
But she works for me. Unfortunately.
It’s a big no-no for me to f*ck her.
Every time I lay eyes on her, I want to throw her over my shoulder and find the closest place to get my hands all over her curvy body.
Her eyes flash, her sweet a** swings, and her smart mouth makes my c*ck so hard it aches.
There are different kinds of fire, and this one will make her panties melt.
There’s only one problem: this fire might be too hot for both of us.

Review:

Slow Burn is the 2nd book in the Into the Fire series. This is the first time I have read this author. The story line was good, a little drawn out but overall good. Some of the internal dialogue during the sexy scenes were quite repetitive, so that was a little distracting. I thought maybe I had already read the scene, when in fact I had not.

Beck’s character was a little underdeveloped. He’s a big flirt and likes women, had a good home life, and is a great firefighter. But I didn’t really get to know him. Masie on the other hand is very complicated and I totally got her.

I have not read book one, but the characters show up in this book and their story seems interesting. I might go back and read it.

MVP Character: Janet

She runs the town cafe, knows all the gossip, very no nonsense, gives good advice.
