Review:

Book 3 in the Mclain series focuses on Nolan and Bridgette.

I was little surprised at this pairing. I thought Bridgette was a little too in your face for Nolan. In my mind, he was the quieter of the twins, but little did I know he is a mini gangsta who can handle Bridgette just fine.

I also thought this would be a little more suspenseful with the mysterious phone calls that Bridgette was getting at the beginning of the book. The calls were so infrequent I kind of forgot about them until abruptly the reason why is reveled. Both characters had childhood traumas that they sort of bonded over. Although it was supposed to help understand Nolan’s previous dating history, it felt a little like a cop out.

This story was just OK for me. It went on a little longer than it needed to. The last few chapters seemed disjointed. Between Bridgette’s mom, Sage, Neil and Kat, there were too many things going on, that maybe could have been put in a different book. The marriage proposal and wedding was rushed and didn’t really fit the characters. It was like he only did it because he saw someone else do it.

Neil, Nolan’s twin is prominent in this book and I look forward to his story. Kat, their sister also had a major reveal and hopefully her story will be told as well.

Favorite Scene: Houston

The scenes in all the books when the characters visit their extended family in Houston are always fun. The way the author writes the interactions between the family members always reminds me of a family reunion.
