Book Blurb:
NBA player, Leland McClain, the baby of the McClain family, is tall, handsome, talented…and spoiled. He’s a man who gets what he wants, and what he wants is the lovely Kimberly Hampton.
Kim Hampton is the director of a community center, a woman who lives to help others while trying to forget a troubling past. As far as she’s concerned, a relationship with any man is a horrible idea. But a relationship with Leland McClain? That’s just out of the question.
He has to have her.
She is undeniably attracted to him.
But will she lower her guard and let him hold her?
*****Note: This is a love story involving an older woman and a younger man which contains profanity and sexual content. If you do not like these elements in your romantic reads, this is not the book for you.*****

Review:
Book 2 in the Mclain series focuses on Leland and Kim. Leland is a professional NBA player and Kim runs a community center. If you read book 1, then you know that Leland likes the more mature women. Kim is only 7 years older than him, so actually she’s the youngest woman he’s been with, and their relationship is……messy and drama filled.
This book is for mature audiences, so as the note in the blurb says, if profanity, strong sexual content, and some violence doesn’t appeal to you, this is not the book for you.
I honestly didn’t even think about the age difference when reading, unless on the characters bring it up. I was impressed, as with the first book, how the author has the men in this series (so far) ready to commit pretty much right away and the women shying away from anything other than a good time. Granted Kim has her issues, as does everyone, but she was holding on to one hell of a secret as to why she was afraid to commit.
I like the different family dynamics that were present in this story. How the mother/son relationship changed over time and how those lines blurred into a toxic relationship. Sibling relationships and how they morph when they’ve been filling the parental role in one way or another. The relationship between Leland and Kim brought many of those issues to light.
The author also shines a light on disenfranchised children and domestic violence. The asset that a good community center and reliable social workers can be in a neighborhood.
On to Book 3.
Favorite Scene: Chapter 12
The entire chapter. It was the moment Kim started to realize that Leland was serious and their relationship was forever changed.
