Review:
This series was recommended to me by my sister. So going in I already knew there was going to be drama, because she LOVES drama. What I didn’t know was how much I would love the drama too.
This book pulls no punches, in language or in the bedroom, or kitchen, or dressing room, or… well you get the picture.
Jo is a refreshing character. She doesn’t mind saying what’s on her mind except when it comes to defending herself. She isn’t impressed by material things and she loves her daughter to the moon and back. Her divorce has taught her to be independent, maybe too independent.
Everett AKA “Big South”, has the world at his feet, but he’s still just a regular down to earth man. His divorce has taught him to not trust women, until Jo. The way he relentlessly pursued her, protected her, and loved her, even when she had doubts, was just amazing.
Their initial meeting is hilarious and I pretty much knew I would enjoy their ride. There are some psycho exes (on both sides) and boss/employee drama that keep this story interesting. I did not put it down.
Let me love you is a great book, and I look forward to the other Mclain siblings.
Funniest Scene: Chapter 32
Any excerpt I drop is kinda spoilerish and would ruin the book. However, the Thanksgiving chapters were both dramatic and hella-funny. Everett’s extended family are everyday folks who don’t care about image or money or all the spoils that come with being related to the rich and famous.
I will warn you that you will laugh out loud at the antics especially Uncle Lee, “What-up-there-now?!”
