RUIN by C.D. REISS

Book Blurb:

Antonio is a killer.

He’s beautiful and possessive; a prodigy of a thief and as violent a badass as ever walked the earth.
Theresa knows it, but that doesn’t stop her from getting entangled with him, and now she wants to protect him.
But every time she tries to protect him, she practically gets him killed, and the tighter he grips her, the more dangerous she becomes.

The only way he’s ever going to find a moment’s peace is to just embrace her as a partner, rather than a defenseless creature.
But he’d never do that. Not this violent badass.

READ: This book contains delicious sex scenes with a hot man dirty-talking in Italian; women handling firearms and explosives; and scenes of violence with a crystal Virgin Mary cigarette lighter.

Review:

After such an explosive ending of book 1, my expectations were really high for book 2. This was more angsty than the 1st. The back and forth between Antonio and Theresa was a little exhausting. She would do something to piss Antonio off, he would take it out on her with sex, everything is all good for about 5 min. Rinse and Repeat.

Both families are featured. Antonio’s blood family through flashbacks and his mob family as he attempts to find peace with his crew splintering. We also meet the rest of Theresa’s family, who ironically enough seem to resemble a mob family themselves.

The last 4 to 5 chapters were the most interesting to me. It’s when all the real excitement and drama happens. The epilogue does exactly what it’s meant to do, close out book 2 and set up book 3.

MVP Character: Margaret Drazen

Name: Margaret “Margie” Drazen
Relationship : Theresa’s older sister
Job: Fixer

This character makes her prescience known in a bog way. She’s like her sister in that Antonio doesn’t scare her and she will do anything for her family. She also doesn’t let Theresa off the hook either. She makes her face issues and keep it honest. She should have her own book.
