Book Blurb:
More powerful than ever, the Guardians of Eternity are facing their greatest challenge yet: a war within their ranks. Their future is in the hands of one rebel vampire, who must choose between loyalty and love . . .
Blessed with an even more compelling allure than most vampires, Chiron has made a fortune in the human world, creating an empire of resorts and casinos. Since the betrayal and imprisonment of his master, he has existed outside the order of the Guardians, trusting no one. But now, the new vampire king has given him a peace offering: a scroll that could free his master. Following the relic’s magic leads him to a demon hotel deep in the Everglades, a lush paradise owned by a mysterious and
mesmerizing woman . . .
As far as Lilah knows, she’s lived her entire life within the confines of her enchanted estate. Memories of her own past are elusive and cloaked in shadows. Even Chiron can’t figure out exactly what she is, and if her intoxicating beauty is his destiny or an illusion drawing him ever closer to his demise—or perhaps to an even more tormenting choice, between his master and his mate . . .

Review:
Although this is the first book in the Guardians of Eternity series I have read, this is not the first book by Alexandra Ivy that I have read. I have been slowly embracing the paranormal world in the last few years and finally decided to give this series a try. With this being the 13th book, I thought I would have a hard time following along, but my fears were unfounded. While there were some scenes that alluded to previous characters/story lines, they were brief and just enough to help me understand the connection to this story.
The humor is the first thing that drew me in. The interactions between several of the characters had a sarcastic undertone. Which, as I read further, is from fighting next to each other literally to the death and trusting each other with their lives. That sense of closeness and familiarity is felt from the beginning and is not forced.
I enjoyed the flirty foreplay between Chiron and Lilah. There are some serious issues on both sides, but they are open enough with each other to see past the half truths and when push comes to shove, have each others back wholeheartedly.
Then you have the character of Levet. He’s like Einstein and Peter Griffin wrapped in a tiny annoying package, but I loved him. The way he is written is pure genius. Hopefully his actions don’t cause too much harm.
This is a paranormal romance, so there are several different beings in the story, each with their own set of abilities. I think I might like this fictional world that Ms. Ivy has created and at some point will go back and read the previous books in this series. The ending definitely has me awaiting the next book with baited breath.
Favorite Scene: Chapter 14
The entire Levet/Ulric jailhouse convo. Laugh out loud hilarity.
ARC received from NetGalley for an honest review.
