Review:
The 2nd book in the Jacksons of Ann Arbor series features El Jackson and his lost love Avery Montgomery. This is a sweeter romance and centers around the themes of second chances, forgiveness, and self worth.
The first few chapters find our heroine dealing with not only confronting the man she left heart broken but also a serious health issue. as the story moves along we see how Avery deals with her new “lifestyle” and her journey back to health and love. Meanwhile, Elwood (El) is trying to figure out how he can still love a woman who he believes left him for her career. He has to help her with her health crisis, but he’s afraid to get to close.
Wherever You Are is a very emotional tale. Avery’s struggle with her career, family, and health, will resonate with those of us who try to be the “Superwoman”. When is enough, enough? Can we, as women, be on top of our game and still have it all? Well we can. We just have to make small changes to improve our quality of life. Sometimes it’s ok to say no.
Forgiveness is a two way street. El had to truly be able to forgive and trust Avery to make him a priority. Avery also had to forgive herself, for having those insecure feelings and allowing other people’s opinions drive a wedge between her and El. Just saying you forgive someone is not the same as actually forgiving them. That was the lesson EL had to learn and that part of forgiveness is trust. At the end of the day, if you cannot trust the ones you love, that relationship will never truly work.
